WHAT a great season for Higher Fold Village Inn.
The Leigh & District Amateur Football League champions completed the double by beating Royal Oak 2-0 in the Carl Brown Memorial Trophy Final. Goals came from Neil Clayton and MoM Adrian Darwin.
And Village Inn will now represent the league in the North West Inter-League Alliance Champion of Champions Trophy.
To crown their season Village Inn also collected the Sporting Team of the Year award.
On Saturday Leigh Eagles (Greg Anderson, Steve Kettley) beat Royal Oak (Tony Halliwell) 2-1 to force a play-off with Leigh Phoenix A for Division One runners-up.

Royal Oak (Redwaters Coronation Cup winners & Carl Brown Memorial Trophy runners-up), Union Arms (Division Two champions, Davenport Cup winners & Sharman Cup runners-up), Butchers Arms (Sharman Cup winners & Division Two runners-up), Leigh Eagles (Coronation Cup & Davenport Cup runners-up), Glynn Lewis of Queens (Division One Player of the Year), Steve Anderton of The Ellesmere (Second Division Player of the Year), Maurice Jones (Referee of the Year). And, for the third straight season, Jeff Hall of Atherton Tigers is the Secretary of the Year.
Corbett Brewery now leave the league, looking to join a Sunday League next season. Seven new applications are in. Closing date is May 27.
