A MAN on the way to bank a pub's takings at the local post office was attacked by two robbers who stole the cash.
The robbery took place as the victim was delivering the money to the sub post office in Warrington Road, Rainhill, at about midday on Monday, May 5.
As he was about to enter the shop, the two men approached him and made a grab for the cash.
The man put up a valiant struggle but eventually the pair proved too strong for him and they snatched the bag and ran off towards Tasker Terrace at the back of the post office where they were spotted climbing into a waiting white, F-reg Astra van with the back windows blacked out.
One of the men was described as in his early 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall and well-built with short, black hair which was brushed back. He was clean shaven, had very defined cheek bones and wore a black jacket and dark jeans. His companion was around 26/27 years of age and about 5ft 11ins tall with a proportionate build. His dark-brown hair was short and scruffy, he spoke with a Liverpool accent and wore a green jacket and blue jeans.
If you were in the area and witnessed the robbery or recognise the description of the offenders, you can contact DC Sue Corrigan at St Helens CID on 0151 777 6064 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
