I read Mr Henig's statement last week with amazement.

The public concern about Blobbygate isn't about him, it's about the truth. Mr Henig says that all his actions were above board. Good. Then he's got nothing to worry about. The trouble is, his letter raises more questions than it answers.

What the public wants to know is, why were councillors told that the now notorious side letter was in force when it wasn't? Who was responsible, and who knew? Why must it all be left to the District Auditor?

Why is Mr Henig attacking other councillors? He has said that, seven months into the project, he checked and found out that Noel Edmonds' refusal to sign the side letter had never been reported to councillors. Is Mr Henig now saying that he told other councillors about this when he found out? What else did he find out? Has he known for over three years that officers gave a false report to councillors? If so, why has he done nothing about it?

Why does he suggest that the side letter could have been helpful during the termination phase? The side letter was about Unique's share of the theme park gate money? the council had decided to give Unique a flat fee instead.

No one is saying that Mr Henig has anything to hide about what happened over the side letter. It's just that, by refusing to face the facts, by throwing accusations around and by trying to shuffle everything off on the District Auditor, he makes it look as though he has.

Isn't it time for a full statement, not just complaints that it's all personal attack?
