LANCASHIRE Lynx returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory over Workington at Derwent Park.
Lynx looked the much sharper outfit from the start and they opened their account in the fifth minute with a try from Steve Ashcroft who reacted quickly to a kick through by Chris Kelly.
Things improved for Lynx in the 10th minute when a Chris Kelly bomb was caught by Dave Murray who spun over the line to touch down, Phil Jones adding the conversion.
Lynx were totally dominating the proceedings and a Phil Jones penalty in the 15th minute edged them further ahead.
Lynx were soon on the attack again and a flowing move split the home defence apart allowing P J Solomon to stride over for another try, Phil Jones adding the conversion.
Little had been seen of Workington as an attacking force, but they should have scored in the 20th minute, but a wayward pass brought the move to a swift conclusion. The home side then had their best patch of the half and were finally rewarded with a try from Nicky Crellin after good play by Barry Williams, Steve Maguire adding the conversion.
Lynx went in at half time with an 18-6 advantage and increased their lead six minutes into the second half with a Phil Jones penalty after Workington were penalised for ball stealing.
The game was virtually sealed in the 52nd minute when Phil Jones and Neil Parsley combined to send in Chris Kelly to touch down.
Lynx dominance was complete with three tries in seven minutes from the 17th minute as the home side wilted in the searing heat.
Firstly Jayson Pekepo was on hand to power over in the corner and this was followed by tries from Dave Murray and Craig Fairhurst with Phil Jones adding two more conversions to complete a good afternoon's work.
Man of the match for Lynx was Dave Murray.
