I WAS fortunate enough to see Frank Sinatra - in 1976 in a concert at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto - initially, because I wanted to write to my father back in England, who was a great fan of his, about his performance.
Sinatra's opening line was: "It's great to be in the 55th state of America."
That was his only joke as he entranced everyone who was there.
At the end of the two-hour show, I had been converted.
He was the ultimate showman, who held the audience in the palm of his hand.
My father passed away six years ago, but I wonder if there's a smile on his face in heaven. They'll surely be celebrating together!
CAROL TAPP (Mrs) Stanford Gardens, Blackburn.
