I SEE (LET, May 13) that some travel agents are going to make Blackburn into a tourist attraction.
What, may I ask, will they show people?
The empty bank and two square eyesores in Church Street? A bus station that has few buses or Ainsworth Street chock-a-block with them and Penny Street the same, with a taxi rank adding to the mayhem?
Then, take Church Street again - only someone with a little mind would turn a straight road into a mess by narrowing it down from two lanes to one.
Salford? What a clever idea there is at the traffic lights. There, one line of traffic stops while the other lane is on "go." The number of people who have nearly been knocked down is unbelievable, not to mention the empty shops going up that area.
Yes, make it a tourist attraction, or, better still, better not - as this town gets ridiculed enough.
