CANNON roared and steel clashed on steel as a battle from 350 years ago was fought again.
Hundreds of people arrived at Hoghton Tower to experience the atmosphere of the Battle of Preston in 1648 between the Royalists and Cromwell's forces.
Hoghton's Companie of Foote, part of the Sealed Knot society, were bringing the English Civil Wars back to life yesterday as part of the anniversary celebration.
They treated visitors to re-enactments, drill displays and sword fights as the event got into full swing.
The fun was continuing this afternoon between 1pm and 5pm. Admission is £1.
