LOCAL democracy week will be highlighted in Longridge when Ribble Valley Council holds a housing committee meeting in the Civic Hall.
The council hopes it will encourage people to get involved in key decisions about their community.
Longridge residents are invited to attend the housing meeting on at 7.30pm on June 4. There will be an opportunity to discuss issues including proposed improvements at Towneley House, provision of a residential home for people with learning difficulties in the area and the future of council-owned elderly persons' accommodation.
The meeting is part of Local Democracy Week, which runs from June 1 to 5.
It aims to highlight the techniques used by councils around the country to encourage public participation in decisions which affect communities.
Housing committee chairman Margaret Sutcliffe, said: "This is just one of the ways in which Ribble Valley Council is encouraging local people to become more involved in the decision making process of their local authority.
