BREEDING birds of prey in the Forest of Bowland were being deliberately persecuted, according to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds,
In one incident a peregrine falcon's nest containing four eggs was smashed by rocks.
RSPB regional officer John Armitage said: "This year's poor season appears to be partly caused by deliberate persecution."
