IN despair at what went on during Blobbygate some local citizens have been trying to bring the facts to public attention. It has already been shown that councillors were misinformed about important financial information and that officers may have been guilty of serious misconduct during the early stages of Blobbygate. Yet the council has refused to take action other than to write to the District Auditor urging him to look at things he already has to look at by law.

I think what happened was disgraceful.

We are now looking at the renegotiation of the contract in May and June 1994 when Unique were offered a financial deal so tempting they could not refuse, and which, as a by-product, helped bury the now notorious side letter. We will offer further disturbing revelations and future targets will include the apparently politically motivated termination of the contract and the disastrous law suit with Unique. Actions here may have been just as serious. Meanwhile I have a message for the many hard-working and honourable officers and for those members of the council who understand the concepts of honour, integrity and service to the community. Don't misplace your loyalty and do not incriminate yourselves. Do not deceive yourselves with the thought that the facts can remain hidden. It is now too late and it is inevitable that the full truth will out.
