LEIGH shoppers are to have a say in how their Co-op runs its business.
A meeting, open only to members, will take place on Monday, June 1, at 8pm in Leigh Library,
Co-operative, which has two stores in the town centre, is giving people the chance to find out how it has been trading over the past 12 months, and what work it has been doing in the local community.
They will also be able to ask questions and vote for their representatives.
Joan Keysell, secretarial officer for the region, said; "We want as many as possible to come along. Our members part-own the business so they have a vested interest in finding out how we are doing."
Leigh, is part of the Co-operative's Lancashire region, whose sales totalled £62.8 million in 1997, and it has been active in supporting the Firs Park User Group through its Co-operative Partnerships scheme with a £1,000 grant to carry out landscaping and conservation work.
Posters providing details of elections to Co-operative committees are on display in the stores along with copies of the society's regional reports and the annual directors' report.
Members must take their share pass book to the meeting to gain admittance. Further information on 01706 891950.
