LIBRARY services are striking the right note with customers, for the music library has undergone a major facelift and now occupies a prime position in the building.
Situated on the ground floor of the Central Library in Blackburn, the unit is a state-of-the-art modern music and video centre offering a huge variety of CDs, cassettes, videos and sheet music.
Offering a full service for the hearing impaired, partially-sighted and blind customers, the library has been newly laid out with clear, easy-to-follow signs.
In addition, visitors can also 'search' for their selection thanks to a new computer system similar to the existing facility in the main library.
Eddie Runswick, director of the council's community, leisure and cultural cervices department, said: "It has been designed so that the classical and pop music, the videos and sheet music are all easily located with clear signs and well trained staff."
Councillor Jack Fairless added: "We have placed the music library in a prime position so that it is convenient for people and will attract more customers. We were also keen to include a special section for people using Braille and those hard of hearing."
