F BURNS (Letters, may 14) painted a clear picture of Blackburn, but who cares? Certainly not the council, or someone in the town hall would have twigged by now that we're not a happy lot.
But even more disgusting than the subway, which can be cleaned up, was the sight of a fully-grown tree - not a particularly beautiful one, but one that has stood for 100 years only to have a mindless moron remove a two-foot wide ring of bark, thus signing its death warrant.
But who cares? It's just an old tree.
SAM SPENCE, Ribblesdale Place, Blackburn.
