RECENT reports of new wonder cancer drug sound hollow as it is realised that animal experiments - in this case, mice, which suffer from different types of cancers and, of course, react differently to drugs - cannot be used to produce human reactions or solve our health problems.
Clearly, the way forward is to carry out humane research which is directly applicable to humans. Powerful laws of nature seem to dictate that positive rewards will never be gained as the result of the exploitation of other sentient beings.
I would like to invite everyone who wants to see an end to animal experiments to come along to the annual National March Against Vivisection and Cruelty-Free Exhibition at Sheffield on Saturday, June 6. For details, ring 0114 2530020.
