MR QUEEN (Letters May 21) seems to be labouring under some serious misapprehensions about the introduction of the minimum wage.

The wages system is a cruel and iniquitous one, and just offering to ensure that everyone is put-upon at the same rate does not count as an advancement of social justice. For a small number it means more pay, but a pittance is still a pittance, and though it is a well meaning step in the right direction we shall never see social justice until we all take action to ensure that our communal wealth is fairly distributed.

As for the threats of high inflation, unemployment and chaos they are just the lies of a tiny minority set to lose a small of fraction of their ill-gotten gains. They are indeed talking nonsense which is ill founded and petty and Mr Queen would be well advised to stay clear of their mendacious predictions.
