THE uncertainty surrounding Stan Ternent's Gigg Lane future will come to an end within the next few days.
The Bury boss continues to be linked with the vacant manager's post at Burnley, where interviews have been taking place all week.
An announcement on Chris Waddle's replacement could come as soon as next week and Ternent, although adamant he is happy at Bury, is widely tipped as one of the favourites to be offered the job.
It is still unknown whether Ternent has even been approached. Turf Moor chiefs have kept their shortlist for the hot seat close to their chests but Notts County's Sam Allardyce, Macclesfield's Sammy McIlroy and Wrexham's Brian Flynn are also thought to be in the frame.
Neil Warnock and Dave Merrington are being linked too.
The imminent takeover of Burnley Football Club is not expected to complicate the appointment of a new manager.
The new 'owners-in-waiting' are likely to have a say on the issue.
Ternent's miracle work at Gigg Lane has won him admirers across the country. He has no fixed contract at Gigg Lane and lives in Burnley.
Bury are still in talks with defender Bryan Small who is the only Shakers star out of contract for next season.
Chairman Terry Robinson says nothing has been hammered out yet for the former Bolton Wanderers ace.
"I have spoken to Bryan and his agent and at this moment in time it is continuing dialogue," he said.
Robinson this week reiterated his comments made to the Bury Times earlier this month, that players will leave Gigg Lane before new blood is introduced.
He said: "We will have to release people who don't figure in the manager's plans to generate the cash for new signings. That is the path we are following."
