A BLACKBURN man has been arrested following the seizure of more than 3,000 pairs of designer jeans, thought to be fakes.
He was stopped on the M6 by Staffordshire police on Saturday following an anonymous tip-off to the Intelligence Investigation Consultancy Ltd, a company which protects copyright on labels.
A number of pairs of Tommy Hilfiger-branded jeans were seized the vehicle he was in and he was taken to Stafford Police station. Police confirmed a man from Blackburn had been arrested and bailed until July 7.
Graham Russell, assistant county trading standards officer for Staffordshire, said: "I can confirm that 3,000 pairs of jeans branded Tommy Hilfiger were seized.
"We are currently seeking advice on whether they are genuine or counterfeit."
