A CAMPAIGN group battling to prevent a major retail development being built in Guide is to meet Blackburn with Darwen councillors and officers
The public meeting on Monday will discuss plans to build a business park and housing estate on land close to Shadsworth Industrial Estate, Haslingden Road.
Manchester-based company Arrowcroft North West is behind the project and claims the scheme could create between 500 to 1,000 jobs.
But residents say the development, next to Guide and Fishmoor reservoirs, would swallow up Guide and make it a district of Blackburn rather than a separate entity.
A petition has been signed by villagers and it will eventually be presented to the council to emphasise that feelings are running high.
Residents' spokesman Mrs Pat Kennedy said: "We would like to see plenty of people at the meeting to put across all our points of concern."
The meeting in Guide Conservative Club starts at 6.45pm.
