TIM Flowers must sweat it out for a little longer before he knows whether he will achieve his World Cup dream with England..

But the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper, along with Nigel Martyn, is a fairly warm favourite to get the nod as back-up to number one David Seaman in France.

After last night's goalless draw in Casablanca when Martyn gave an excellent performance, arguably to clinch his place, it looks as though Tottenham's Ian Walker will be the man to miss out when coach Glenn Hoddle announces his final 22 Monday.

The fact that the Spurs keeper hasn't figured in either of the two games in the international tournament suggests he will be the unlucky member of the quartet who have been together in an expanded squad for the World Cup preparations.

Walker also missed a large chunk of last season through injury.

Though Hoddle has been known to act in mysterious ways!

Providing Flowers does get the vote it will crown a splendid comeback by the Rovers star.

For he had to have surgery on a nagging shoulder problem towards the end of the season.

Happily, he recovered in time to play in the final Premiership game against Newcastle and prove his fitness. Flowers then did what he could to ensure Hoddle looked favourably on him by keeping a clean sheet in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Morocco.

The Ewood star didn't have much to do but dealt confidently and capably with everything that came his way.

Martyn was much busier against Belgium last night and his performance surely warranted inclusion as one of the three keepers to go to the finals.

The squad will no doubt be told who is going and who misses out over the weekend -- before the coach declares his hand publicly on Monday.

Flowers would be a popular choice according to a majority of more than 2,000 fans who took part in a Carling internet poll. Sixty one per cent of those who voted picked Flowers, with David Seaman (98.5 per cent) undisputed number one and Nigel Martyn (60.2 per cent) named as the other keeper who should go to France.

And there was great support for Chris Sutton, who was nominated by more than a third of the voters as one of the strikers.
