A MASSIVE collection of compact discs, records, videos and books amassed by jazz enthusiast George Daniels has been donated to Blackburn Library by his family.
Mr Daniels, of Higher Reedley Road, Brierfield, attended almost every jazz event in the area up until his sudden death from a heart attack in July last year, aged 46.
An aerospace engineer at Rolls-Royce, Barnoldswick, he was a great fan of all kinds of jazz and was a well-known and popular figure at concerts all over the country.
He had an extensive knowledge and insight into jazz, even though he didn't play an instrument.
When he died he left nearly 400 jazz compact discs as well as records, videos and books. They are now in Blackburn Library as: 'The GP Daniels Collection,' with each compact disc having a printed label.
They are already proving a popular addition to the music stock at the library.
In a letter his parents, Alan and Bernice Daniels, of Valley Gardens, Hapton, divisional librarian Norma Monks, thanked them for their generosity in donating such an extensive collection, which was well used and valued by the customers.
Mrs Daniels said: "He loved all jazz. His local favourite was the Stan Barker Trio. Stan died just a month before George. We played one of his tapes at George's funeral.''
