FIREFIGHTERS in Blackburn proved they could charm the birds from the trees after rescuing a young crow thought to have been trapped for days.
The bird, which is being cared for by Helen Adsett at Wildcare North West, was spotted by a neighbour in Conway Drive, Blackburn, as it desperately tried to free its leg from some string.
But as the fire brigade arrived, the young bird escaped and fell to the ground.
Sub-officer Beau Gaskin said: "The bird had been hanging upside down from the tree by its leg which was trapped.
"But as we arrived it just dropped to the floor."
The bird is now among 20 other birds being cared for by Helen at her home in Grafton Street, Blackburn.
She said: "It has obviously spent a couple of days trying to yank itself free and badly damaged its leg in the process.
"We are having to force feed it and it may take three or four weeks to get better."
