THE former Windermere Road Council School is celebrating 90 years of history this month.
Headteacher Hilary Spragg is inviting former pupils, aged over 80, to join the feast of fun following a special assembly for them on June 25.
The school was officially opened by the Mayor, Cllr George Hunter, on its original site in Coniston Street, when the head was Mr Harry Sims.
The girls' and boys' secondary schools were led separately by Miss Ruth Grundy and Mr Sims, while Miss Mary Williams was in charge of the infants.
Reorganisation in 1982 prompted a move into the former Leigh Girls' Grammar School building, and at that time 110 pupils shared the site with Leigh College, a teachers' centre and several other local authority groups.
The original school buildings were later demolished.
However, the school has now grown to a massive 250 pupils and has taken over the whole building.
Mrs Spragg said: "To help us celebrate our 90 years we are looking for some special guests who attended the school. If you are in your 80s let us know, an assembly is being organised in your honour to celebrate a distinguished occasion for this very special school."
