FIRMS are being urged to go green with the help of a student.
Under the Shell Technology Enterprise Programme in East Lancashire, undergraduates are placed with local firms during the summer to help them carry out a specific project
And extra help is offered by the Groundwork Business Environment Association for firms who want to carry out a project with a green slant
The STEP scheme, supported by the DTI, is administered throughout East Lancashire through Pendle Enterprise Trust.
Last year, 15 students took part in the scheme through the BEA with placements at firms including MD Foods, The Glisten Co and Promat Fire Protection.
Projects undertaken during the eight-week placements covered areas including waste minimisation surveys, energy efficiency, recycling and reduction of pollution.
Further details are available from Shirley Coote at the BEA on 01254 676747.
