ECCLESTON suffered a four-wicket defeat at Westminster Park on Saturday.
They made a creditable 169 all out thanks to notable contributions from Atherden (72), John (17) and Armstrong (23).
However, the Chester side reached the target for the loss of six wickets.
The second team collected an easy victory over their Westminster Park counterparts.
And on Sunday the seconds continued the good work with a second round cup victory at home to Moorfield.
The visitors were restricted to 107 all out before Eccleston knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets.
