YOUR editorial (LET, May 27) suggested that the Government, in its fight to reduce air pollution and improve health, should widen their investigation to include the research that identifies power stations as major sources of pollution. But why stop there?

Why is the Government not considering the large amount of research, both national and international, that condemns the emissions from industrial processes, especially where toxic waste is being burnt, as a significant cause of ill health?

Why not consider the research that suggests that when emissions from adjacent industrial processes mix in the air further potentially-dangerous chemicals are formed.

What happens to the health of the local population when these emissions hang in the air and ultimately fall to the ground?

As you can see, there are many questions to be addressed and much research to be studied - but will the Government do it?
