ATHERTON will play Edgworth in the Cross Cup semi-final after a dramatic quarter-final win over Walshaw.
Pro Andy Hall helped his side to 194-8 with an unbeaten 96 before Walshaw threatened to win the game with an impressive response.
The drama centred on Glen Stephens who came agonisingly close to a century which would have won the game for his side.
His hit a six to take him to 96 and then went for another big hit - to seal his 100 and victory - only to be caught out, leaving Walshaw a desperate two runs short.
GLAZEBURY earned a winning draw at Shell with all-rounder Jon Gibbons shining with both bat and ball.
He hit a painstaking 54 in a total of 176-7 (Gareth Banks 28, Paul Warhurst 29, David Warhurst 26) and then took 3-17 as Shell struggled to 117-8.
The 2nds scored their first win of the season, beating Shell by six wickets, Stuart Caller and Mark Tomlinson each picking up six wickets.
