GOLBORNE skipper Andy Batterley blasted his side back to the top of the Bolton Association.

The opener almost carried his bat in a superb knock of 115 against Blackrod.

And Graham Marston chipped in with a half-century as they cruised to 209-4 and a six-wicket win. Blackrod scored 206-6.

Atherton broke their league duck, edging out Daisy Hill by 10 runs.

Atherton's 114 was always under threat but 5-28 from Merga dumped Daisy Hill at 104.

A week earlier Clifton celebrated their first league win of the season with a 68-run win against Atherton, who had a decent start with pro Andy Hall posting 43.

But, in a dramatic finish, the result was clinched off the last delivery as Steve Walsh was given out lbw, Atherton all out for 153.

LEIGH fell by one wicket against Widnes in the National Knockout after batting first and scoring 170-7.

Dave Dove held the side together with a gritty 75, Andy Mullaney hit 27 and Paul Jones 23. But Widnes won at 171-9.

Leigh then claimed their first Liverpool & District Competition win of the season, beating St Helens Recs by seven wickets.

Recs were all out for 197, Kane Kersnovske taking 4-42 and then hitting 40 as Leigh rolled in at 201-7, Steve Bailey striking 85.

Leigh beat Glossop by four wickets in the Lancashire CB Knockout. Tight bowling restricted the visitors to 158, Ben Cottrell taking 3-44.

Mullaney led the reply with an unbeaten 65 while Robert Clews added 23 from 21 balls.

Leigh then beat derby rivals Wigan in the Liverpool Competition for the Penketh Trophy, winning by five wickets.

Wigan scored 248-6 but Kersnovske's 77 kept Leigh in touch, Clews adding 37 and Dove 23 as Leigh won at 250-5.
