WHAT a busy week! I had a great day yesterday with our Give A Child A Chance auction - thank you if you called in or made a donation.
This weekend it's The Walk For Liverpool - and we will be walking from the Pier head to Otterspool and back again, all in aid of Give A Child A Chance. Don't forget, the money only goes to children in the Merseyside area. If you haven't rung for an application form, you're welcome to turn up on Sunday and walk with us - and if you can, make a donation to our charity. Hope to see you there - and don't forget, the presenters are doing the walk 'Full Monty' style. Blimey.
Here are this week's three new songs in the Starbeat record review:
Silver Sun - 'Too Much Too Little Too Late'
Can you believe it - a band have done a cover version of an old Johnny Mathis song. It got to number three in 1978 and in 1998 it's covered by Indie rock band Silver Sun. When I first heard this song it sounded like the Bay City Rollers singing it - but I mean that in a caring sort of way. In comparison, it's quite similar to Savage Garden - it's like a rock love song, really catchy and dead credible.
Karen Ramirez - 'Looking For Love'
This is another cover version - not Johnny Mathis this time, it's and old Everything But The Girl song. I went to see this girl at a showcase in Manchester last week and she performed a load of tunes - this one was by far the best and the one that stood out most. A new artist with a very promising future - out next Monday.
Fat Boy Slim - 'Rockafeller Skank'
Here he is, the man with more names than Prince. Fat Boy Slim aka Norman Cook responsible for a long list of re-mixes including Cornershop's Brimfull of Asha and Wildchild's Renegade Master. Like both of those tunes, this is another sure-fire hit - great dance tune and check out the big break down in the middle - it's mad. Out Monday.
