Riddle of vanishing tiger solved THE riddle of the vanished tiger has been solved!
After having the stuffing knocked out of him on an educational tour of St Helens schools a couple of decades ago, Old Tigger finally collapsed beyond repair.
On being sent to a taxidermist, in the hope of restoring the stuffed tiger to his former tooth-and-claw glory, the expert ruled that the beast was beyond salvaging.
A source at St Helens Museum has filled in the sad details after reader Tom Rafferty of Haresfinch inquired, via this page, about what had happened to the tiger.
He recalled that it had originally graced the old Victoria Park Museum and, later, the head of the stairs at the town's central library.
