YOUNG fundraisers didn't sleep on the job when it comes to raising money for charity.

And Saturday's annual bed push around Ramsbottom organised by the Rotaract Club of Tottington and Bury West raised some £1,200 for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust.

Little Aimee Read, Of Moorcroft in Edenfield, who is recovering from a life-saving bone marrow transplant operation, started the 20 bed-pushers of from the Hare and Hounds Pub in Holcombe Brook.

They made their way to the Railway Hotel in Ramsbottom town centre.

Mr Paul D'Alessandro, committee member said: "We were really lucky that the weather stayed nice, that really helped, had it been raining the whole thing would have been a wash out."

He added: "The bed was quite heavy and at one time seemed to roll along on it own, but it stopped the traffic which meant we could collect money from car windows."

The Rotaract Club of Tottington and Bury West are a member of the Rotary International organisation for young people aged 18-30, who are interested in social activities and fund-raising events.
