FORTY homes in the Dickens Road area of Grange Park are undergoing an £800,000 refurbishment carried out by St Helens Council.
The council recently opened the doors of its showhouse, 21 Dickens Road, to enable the public to see for themselves the high level of refurbishment under the Phase 3 modernisation programme.
The 'through the keyhole' two-day event also gave tenants an insight into the forthcoming Grange Park Phase 4 modernisation scheme which is being designed now as part of the council's on-going commitment to modernising and improving its houses.
Under Phase 3 work includes new central heating systems; new upstairs bathroom; new kitchens; complete re-wiring; new damp proofing and decoration throughout.
Work on the homes is expected to be completed by November.
