SALT Ayre Sports Centre scooped a £20,000 in lottery cash last week.
The grant was approved by the National Sports Council and will be used to fund a £30,000 scheme which will see further cutting edge technology installed at the sports centre. The remaining £10,000 is being funded by Lancaster city council in a partnership scheme with the North Lancashire Swimming and Water Polo Association.
It means that Salt Ayre will become the only swimming facility in Lancashire to be fitted with electronic timing and scoring facilities - enabling it to be a host venue for competitive swimming for the whole of the northern counties.
