LEIGH-based experts Digital Exchange Products (DXP) have won a contract to expand Liverpool University's telecommunications network.
In the past five years the university has increased its system by 100pc to accommodate the introduction of individual telephone lines into its halls of residence and the increase of it telecommunications equipment.
Phil Sawyer, managing dirctor of DXP, based in Lord Street South, said: "We have supplied the university with second-user telecommunications equipment for the past eight years, and have advised them how to maximise savings with their equipment. This latest extension will build up the network's resilience and allow the university to increase its telecommunications traffic."
It currently operates 5,500 extensions over nine systems and the new system will provide 900 additional lines.
