CONNECT, a St Helens-based service giving support to parents of children with special educational needs, is looking for volunteers to offer a friendly ear.
The charity, which is run from within the STAR Children's Centre in College Street, is looking to help parents whose children are undertaking statutory assessment. It is hoped that people will help by accompanying parents to meetings and making notes on their behalf which would enable the parents to make the right decisions concerning their youngsters.
The scheme is funded by the Education Department in conjunction with Connect, and volunteers will be asked to partake in eight preparation workshops to give them the training required. If you would like to take part or want more details, contact Kirsten Merrill or Carol Bostock on St Helens 453073.
CONNECT were recently voted regional winners in the Nationwide Building Society Awards for Voluntary Endeavour and will represent the North West in the National Finals later this year.
