RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has taken his campaign to get recognition for World Environment Day from local to central Government.
Last week he wrote to every local authority in Lancashire urging them to embrace the principles of the day.
These include building on brown field instead of green field sites, checking car exhaust emissions and educating children about the importance of protecting the environment.
Last Friday in the House of Commons he attacked the Government for not doing anything to mark the day and for failing to call a debate on the environment in the near future.
Leader of the Commons Ann Taylor brushed aside his criticisms.
