I HAVE a very young stray cat which followed children from near their mosque one evening, but despite extensive inquiries its owners have not been traced.
May I remind readers that suitable, good, caring homes are hard to come by? Responsible pet ownership means neutering your pet and personal commitment for many years to its welfare - and this means time and money.
During last year's summer holiday, there was a spate of acquiring rabbits. Several children near us were given baby rabbits without questioning their capabilities of ownership nor obtaining parental consent. One tiny rabbit was lost on a main road and others condemned to never seeing a blade of grass.
Children need help and sensible advice. They should be taught to consider the needs of animals and discouraged from acquiring pets on a whim.
