A FRIEND of ours, when going on holiday, usually put her dog and cat in the local kennels.
Towards the end of the holiday fortnight, some people had been for their pets and the kennels people were checking up on how many of the pets were left. It was then they noticed that the cat was missing.
Thinking that it might have escaped unnoticed and found its way home, which was less than half-a-mile away, they recruited the neighbours in a search for it.
It was eventually found and taken to the kennels where it was put in its temporary home to await collection. When our friend went to collect her pets, she was told the story of how the cat had been re-captured.
"But," she said, "I didn't bring the cat as it had been missing for two days and when I brought the dog in I forgot to mention it."
As the kennel's owner said, "It's better to be one up than one down."
