TEAMWORK and personal organisation were the main aims of an Industry Day for pupils in year ten at Pleckgate High School, Blackburn.
Assisted by 32 visiting advisors from local companies and further education colleges, the students formed teams to tackle design, production, marketing and budgeting assignments by set deadlines.
In addition three groups of students became journalists for the day, reporting on an avalanche of news stories being thrown at them by the Newstream computer programme.
And to cap it all, yet another team was grappling with a simulated crisis of national importance while fending off probing questions from the press.
But this was all in a day's work for these young people who threw themselves enthusiastically into their various roles, completing all tasks by the end of the day.
Senior teachers Jennifer Colbert and Mike Sumner, who organised the event, expressed their gratitude to all the advisors who helped to make the day such a success, and to North West Water and Lex Rover for their sponsorship.
