THE home of elusive Burnley FC take-over bidder Peter Shackleton is up for sale.

The detached four-bedroom house, in Duffield, Derbyshire, was put on the market two weeks ago for £189,000.

Shackleton, who has not spoken publicly for six weeks, had previously stated that he did not intend to uproot his family from the Derby area should his takeover bid prove successful.

Instead, he intended to rent or buy property in the Burnley area.

The estate agents were today unaware of the reasons behind Shackleton's decision to sell.

I turned up at the house on Friday in a bid to squeeze some badly needed answers out of Shackleton.

But only a discarded pair of trainers on the living room floor provided any sign of life.

Curtains were drawn upstairs and around the conservatory.

The road is part of a bustling estate, although Shackleton's house is out of character with the rest of the neighbourhood.

It was certainly not the type of house I expected to be owned by a man who supposedly transfers millions of pounds around the world.

And there are no signs or plaques at the house to confirm the Burwood House title used on Shackleton's headed notepaper.

Burnley chairman Frank Teasdale was today unavailable to comment on Shackleton's immediate plans.
