CAN I say how delighted I was to learn that Mr Adam Hajee Patel was chosen, by Jack Straw, for the National Race Relations Forum.

I have known Mr Patel for about 20 years. He has been a leading figure in the community and continues to play an active role within the community.

He has worked very hard to promote ethnic representation within East Lancashire with his involvement with the Racial Equality Council.

Mr Patel was chair of Lancashire Council of Mosques and now holds the position of honorary president.

He says he is looking forward to working on issues which are of concern to the community

I know he will work very hard, he is respected by all sections of the community and is a dedicated person who will go out in the community to give advice.

Good luck to you in your new role Mr Patel. You deserve the recognition.
