THEY may have been wringing wet but nothing could dampen the spirits of a gang of charity raft racers.
And the hardy bunch - who battled it out on the River Ribble - are hoping to attract more dare-devils to take part in next year's watery antics.
The event, which involved five teams of nine, raised around £1,000 for the Preston and district branch of the NSPCC.
But the ambitious organisers, based at TIME Computers in Burnley, are keen to resurrect the once-annual event.
Gordon Higginson, NSPCC appeals manager for West Lancashire, said: "Last time the raft race was held, several years ago, it was a massive event which attracted crowds of people to the Tickled Trout Hotel in Preston.
"It's great fun and, despite the chilly weather, the participants all agreed that it was an exhilarating event."
The Tickled Trout's team donned chef's hats in their hunger to reach the winning post first. It worked, they won!
