FOR many years I have enjoyed the area known as The Valley.
On good sunny days in the summer, the hundreds of butterflies fluttering around you, basking in the sunshine on the footpath as you walk through, grass hoppers and crickets all around you in the grass, fishing successfully for stickle backs in the valley brook, with my young son.
In the Autumn comes the blackberries to make jams etc. and to freeze, as a reminder of warm sun, in the winter time. All this happens with no help from any agency. It would be a great loss, if through too much interference, the balance was lost. As it is adults, children and pets can use the area without detriment and/or impediment to each other, and surely this is the beauty of this part of Atherton.
