PUPILS from a local high school have been getting down to work for their summer term project.
For youngsters from Darwen Moorland High have been spending time working with mentors from Darwen-based Wolstenholme International.
The Year 8 pupils aged 12 to 13 have been comparing the industrial processes with the school procedures and organisation.
Pupils have been working in groups to look at such topics as health and safety, quality assurance, the process from raw material to end product, marketing and sales, team work and leadership, organisational structure and communications.
These themes are being explored both within the workplace as well as within school, enabling pupils to identify both the differences and similarities between the school and Wolstenholmes which employs 250 people and produces bronze powders and metalic printing inks for the printing industry.
The project is already well underway, and will culminate on Thursday July 9, with a presentation, when the pupils will have to present their findings to the other groups.
