THERE'LL be no more bricks in the wall for St Catherine's Hospice fund-raisers - the Brick By Brick appeal has hit its target.
And jubilant staff at the Lostock Hall hospice expressed their thanks to our readers - who have helped raise cash since the appeal was launched by the Citizen in July last year.
The hospice has now opened the new building and is concentrating on improving facilities in its day care centre.
The Brick By Brick appeal raised cash by encouraging businesses, community organisations and local people to buy a brick for the wall of the proposed extension.
Since its launch last summer, the appeal total has rocketed, thanks to the work of enthusiastic fund-raisers and great community spirit.
Appeals officer John Nickson said: "This is great news and, to celebrate, we will be attending the Symphony concert at Hoghton Tower - which is also raising money for St Cath's."
The hospice is now making improvements to their day care facilities and hope to open a new section later this month.
In a bid to continue their fund-raising efforts staff have launched several other charity events.
Chef Jim Saffery has vowed to give up smoking in a series of charity psychotherapy sessions organised by the hospice.
Proceeds from the scheme will go towards further improvements.
And Halifax plc has also raised £500 which they handed over last Thursday. Mr Nickson added: "We are very grateful to everyone who helps us achieve our fund-raising targets."
