HUNDREDS of residents were evacuated after a hoaxer started an IRA bomb alert at a Pendle gasworks.
A man with an Irish accent rang textile giants Smith and Nephew warning of a device at the neighbouring gasometer in Brierfield.
Police cordoned off the streets as Army bomb disposal experts and sniffer dogs searched the area.
