BAD weather washed out Astley & Tyldesley's moment of glory on Saturday.
In 10 years they have never beaten Golborne.
But that looked set to change when they dismissed the leaders for a modest 107.
Star of the show was Paul Bennett, the third member of the side's cricketing family, who shattered the champs with a staggering return of 7-50, while behind the wicket David Clare scooped five catches.
A&T looked good at 67-7 but their hopes were washed away in the rain.
Another hard luck tale involved Atherton, bowled out by Darcy Lever for a meagre 85 of which pro Andy Hall made 23.
The reply stood at 22-0 when the rains came.
It got no better for Atherton on Sunday against Standish, who hit 159-8, the Walsh father and son combination taking all the wickets.
Dad Steve picked up 5-62, son Paul collected 3-55.
But Atherton were always in trouble against the off spin and hung on at 128-9.
Elton (191-8) drew with A&T - hanging on at 114-9 - to go top of the Vimto Bolton Association.
Golborne 2nd's match with A&T (112; Andrew Makinson 5-25, Geoff Stockton 4-65) was abandoned when the rain came at 57-4 (Nadeem Aurangzeb 20 not out).
