AN elderly woman had her savings stolen by a cruel conman claiming to be a voluntary worker.
The thief called at the victim's home in Florence Street, Nutgrove, in the early evening of Thursday, June 4, saying he had been sent to carry out jobs in her garden.
He asked her to go into the garden with him but when she returned to the house, the man had disappeared and she later discovered that a large sum of money had been taken from her handbag.
Anyone with information on the theft can contact the St Helens Crime Management Unit on 0151 777 6050 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
