POLICE are searching for a man who committed the "particularly despicable" crime of conning an 89-year-old woman out of her cash in Morecambe.
A man in his late teens knocked on the woman's door on Cordson Road, Morecambe dressed in official garb, and told her she needed her guttering needed mending. He then requested £20 to buy materials to fix it which the woman gave him. She never saw him again. Said Sgt Paul Denney of Lancaster Police: "This sort of crime is heinous. We remind the public not to let anyone into their houses without proper identification and never give them money."
It happened at noon on Monday. The man is described as 5ft 7ins and of slim build.
