I START with a call for a referendum. The question being: Do we, the residents of the district of Lancaster City, want the inner relief and town centre by pass road to be built?
Here are the reasons I make this call:
can the city council administration be trusted to handle the assets of the district in an efficient manner after the Blobby fiasco and the failure to collect the market rents?
traffic congestion here is a serious problem
with 6,000 unemployed (of whom I am one) and the fourth worst unemployment rate in the North West we need to think about the amount of jobs building the road would create
The council's present strategy is like the 6,000 unemployed - not working. We need to press the council for a referendum to settle the matter of this vital land asset.
