A BIKER was in a very serious condition with head injuries after an accident on St George's Quay, Lancaster yesterday afternoon. The 30-year-old man was rushed to the RLI before being transferred to a specialist unit at Preston Royal. He was apparently in collision with the back of another vehicle and police closed part of the quay while paramedics applied emergency aid to the man. A spokesman for Lancaster Ambulance said: "He is in a very serious state. They've done what they can for him in Lancaster but he had extensive injuries so they've had to take him to Preston."
The accident comes in the same week that police from three neighbouring forces converged when it emerged that thousands of motorists plan to flood the region as they return from the Isle of Man TT races.
The meeting was called by Lancashire Constabulary's Head of Road Safety, Chief Inspector Ian Bell in an effort to avoid yet more motorcycle deaths.
